Planning for our big day

Kal and I got engaged on Sunday, December 21st at the South Street Seaport.  Its kind of a long story, but here goes...Kal and I have been dating for three and a half years and started seriously talking about marriage about a year ago.  We have different religions, so for the first few years we weren't too sure where the relationship was headed.  We tried to break it off a few times, figuring that it would be too hard to make it work, but we couldn't bear to be apart.  I know we have obstacles ahead of us, but Kal is such a great man and he is definitly worth it.  So...on our three year anniversary we were on a cruise in the Caribbean we spoke about getting engaged.   So we start looking at rings during the fall and he winds up just having something custom made b/c we couldn't find "the perfect ring".  So now he tells me that the ring won't be done until Jan/Feb and how sorry he was.  I was hoping he was just trying to throw me off, but by the fourth or fifth time I was beginning to believe him.  So fast forward to Sunday, December 21st.  We go to Cabanas ( a restuarant in the South Street Seaport.  We go there for every anniversary, birthday and special occasions, so I guess its "our spot") for my birthday (my birthday is Christmas).  I wasn't feeling too good and it was freezing out so I really didn't want to go, but he kept insisting saying that its tradition.  We eat dinner as usual and the waiter brings the dessert menu.  And this is what I saw...

So of course I freak out, cover my face and keep shaking my head.  He got down on his knee and of course I said yes.  Apparently he was back and forth with the restaurant over the past few weeks going over the special dessert menu.  What a great story to tell our children and I get to keep the menu in a frame!
