So we are FINALLY clear to close...after renegotiating the price for the lower appraisal, we signed the new contract. We are clear to close in two weeks! We went to the house today to look around and pick out the carpet color for the basement. We were also able to meet a few of the neighbors which was great! We also agreed to take the credit for appliances instead of having the seller install the "basic" stove and dishwasher...So now we have to start looking at appliances asap!
We chose the walnut color (top left hand corner)
After two weeks, we finally got our appraisal...and it appraised for 15K less than the contract price. Great for us, but we don't know how much of a hard time the seller is going to give us...In the end, its his fault, b/c he sold two of the same homes on the same block for the 15K less price...So b/c of his greed, we have to go back to the table. Our attorney will be contacting the sellers attorney on Monday, so we are crossing our fingers (again) for a smooth ending to all of this! We just want to move in already!!! We were hoping to close at the end of May, so I hope this is resolved quickly!!!
So today we spent an hour and a half signing papers and applying for the mortgage. Everything looks great on our end, so next is the appraisal. Our mortgage paperwork will be submitted on Monday and hopefully have the appraisal on Thursday...This is our next big hurdle!!
The contract is signed on our end, and is (supposed to) be signed by the seller tomorrow. I'm dropping off all of my mortgage paperwork on Friday....I'm praying for smooth sailing for here on. We have a closing date of June 15th, but are really hoping to close the end of May!
I have nothing new to report...Apparently the contract took 6 days to get from the sellers attorney to my attorney and when it was recieved, there were pages missing. Sooooo now I'm waiting for my attorney to get the correct paperwork. I just want to sign this thing already so we can start the mortgage process and get a closing date!!!!!!!!!
After about 2 months and 30 open houses, we found the one!! We are currently waiting for our attorney to look over the contract he just recieved. We will hopefully be signing the contract this weekend and from there getting a closing date! All in all, the house hunt wasn't too bad. We had some communication problems with our realtor as to what exactly what we were looking for, but in the end it worked out perfectly. Below are pictures of our soon to be new home!
